5 Tips Maintaining Health at Home During the COVID-19 Lockdown

The Coronavirus pandemic that hasn’t subsided invited unrest in the community. The World Health Organization (WHO) stated that the Covid-19 virus pandemic could not be eradicated by the end of this year. 

This statement was emphasized in an exclusive interview by WHO Emergency Director Michael Ryan who said that all parties must focus on keeping the transmission rate of the coronavirus that causes Covid-19 as low as possible, even though it's possible that this virus can be eradicated this year.



Inevitably, all of humanity who is currently struggling during this pandemic must adjust to coexistence with Covid-19 as long as a vaccine has not been found. New life arrangements, new habits, and the necessities of life are certain to create a sense of pessimism and fear of future productivity levels. 

In fact, we learn how to not give up and try to adapt to prioritizing health protocols and following the guidelines set by the World Health Organization (WHO). While doing activities from home, be it work from home or online class, it does not mean that we are safe from the threat of this Covid virus. Maintaining the condition of the body and implementing health protocols as preventive steps so that the immune system is maintained must still be done.


1. Watch hygiene prioritize and body condition

The Coronavirus is a virus that attacks various ages from toddlers, young to elderly. One of the things that must be considered to reduce the spread of the virus is to maintain and pay attention to the cleanliness of the environment, both at home and outside. 

In this pandemic condition, the government is also implementing social distancing which makes a policy of working from home and studying online so that many people stay at home for quite a long time. 

When at home, make sure to wash your hands for 20 seconds regularly and use a hand sanitizer before and after eating, after activities, from the toilet, and so on. Clean the home environment by regularly sweeping and mopping the house until it is clean, throwing away garbage in its place, and washing clothes immediately after doing activities outside the room. 

When outdoors, keep a minimum distance of 2 meters and try to avoid crowds, and always use a mask to avoid yourself if someone sneezes or is in an unsanitary condition. If you feel that your body is not fit, do not force yourself to travel or be outside the room. If you have suspicious symptoms, consult a doctor immediately to get further treatment.



2. Mental health and give yourself break

Even if you feel stressed because you have been at home for too long, don't let it affect your mental condition. During this time of the Covid-19 pandemic, we learn to live side by side and overcome anxiety and fear of being infected because there is no vaccine. 

Some ways that you can do to avoid excessive anxiety are to be patient. Being patient to always be at home and doing all activities online is an important thing that needs to be done.

 For example, we can increase our faith in one God to be patient and also avoid this virus. Focus on the positive side of this pandemic, by spending more time at home, we can get closer to our family and do some hobbies that we haven't had the chance to do. 

Do good to yourself and forgive yourself because even though you are not a productive person like in normal situations, on the positive side you have more time to rest.

3. Eat 4 healthy, 5 perfect food, and consume the vitamins

4 healthy 5 perfect foods consisting of staple foods, side dishes, vegetables, fruit, and milk are nutritional needs that must be met, especially during the coronavirus pandemic, the intake we consume must have nutrients that can strengthen the body's immunity. don't forget to take vitamin C to meet your daily needs and strengthen your immune system.



4. Do morning exercise and drink water

Staying still at home doesn't mean you will stop exercising during the Covid-19 pandemic. In this modern era, sports can be done indoors in various ways, such as push up, sit up, pull up, back up, etc. As reported by the Jakarta Post, that with light exercise about three times a week can reduce the risk of death during the flu outbreak in Hong Kong in 1998. 

Meanwhile, people who don't exercise at all or rarely more than five days will be threatened with a greater risk of death. Here are some light exercises that you can do at home: gymnastics, yoga, dancing and some other light activities. Apart from exercising, you can also compensate by drinking 8 glasses of water a day regularly to keep your body fluids stable.

5. Have some bedrest

Even though you are doing all your activities online, it's not uncommon for your sleep schedule to get messed up. To increase endurance, it's necessary to get enough rest for 7-8 hours per day to increase immunity and endurance.
